Dealer complaint recourse

I don't want to bore you with the details but to make a long story short I blew the sidewall out of my right front tire and called my dealer to see if they would let the dealer on my side of town (I live in Atlanta) know that I was coming to see what could be done about getting my tire replaced. They say "no problem".

I get to the dealer on my side of town and the jackass at the service area does everything EXCEPT help me and I tells me that I have to buy a new tire and Dunlop might reimburse me and also that my rim is bent and has to be replaced (this brings the total to about $600). So I tell "no service boy" no thanks.

I head down to NTB, the guy calls Dunlop and 15 minutes later has me a free tire on order. After that I took the rim to a repair shop and (I am sure you can guess) the rim is not damaged. Needless to say I am PO'ed.

I have called the Toyota Corporate Customer Relations line, been issued a case number and been given their mailing address. I will send a letter describing this series of events and I will copy the offending dealership and the dealership where I purchased the vehicle.

I have a point and a question:
1. If you live in the Atlanta, GA area avoid Cobb County Toyota at all costs.
2. Do any of you know of anyone else at Toyota Corporate who I can copy on this letter?

Toyota dealerships are a funny animal.

I asked a guy at a dealership if I could schedule a valve adjustment and said they don't do them. I call another dealership and they say, sure bring it on in.

You're doing the right thing. If no one ever complains about the service, they won't know. I'm a stickler for good service.

One golden rule in Marketing is: When you have a homogenus product, the only thing that sets you apart from others, is your quality of service of getting that product to the customer.

The homogenus product being the mechanical service.

Don't forget to mention you posted your complaint on a toyota forum with thousands of members.

Good luck.

Yeah psoting here makes you complait heard by alot more people than if you just told your family and friends, your making amuch largr impact than you actually can fathom. There are plenty of GA guys here and if not that then your making eveyone else even more aware about Stearlership fraud, and general BS. More people become more cautious about the mechanical aspect and the service of their vehicals, the tighter the rope gets around Toyota's neck to make dar ure all their service men and women are up to if not above par.

GO GET UM MAN!! You have ALL of us backing you, you can be sure of that. Keep us updated on the response from Toyota I'm curious. Thanks.

The service manager from Cobb County Toyota called me today and apologized profusely. Apparently, Customer Relations informed him of his boy's attempt at a proctological exam on me. I very seriously doubt anything will happen to the person who tried to screw me out of about $600. I could care less as I will NEVER go there to purchase so much as a $0.75 oil plug gasket from Cobb Cty Toyota. My boss at work recently purchased a Sienna from that dealership and got jerked around for about three weeks and finally told them that either he got his minivan (poor guy getting jerked around AND having to purchase a minivan) or he wanted his $1000 down payment back. Toyota corporate will be getting a letter from him as well from me.

On the plus side, the guy from NTB called today and said my new free tire was here and to come on down.

Two things have happened as a result of this experience, Cobb County Toyota has lost a customer and NTB has gained one.

Thanks for all the advice and I enjoy the board to no end.

Angry Dealer˟˟˟˟˟ story

I use to work for Lincoln Mercury and know how recalls work. The customer get the info then brings it to us and we fix it. Well Ford Focus has had issues over the years worst case is engine fires and rear wheels falling off. Well a customer of mine at the casino I work for comes in and I asked her have you gotten the recall done yet on your car? She says no and did not believe me. Well the car stalls a week later with 25K on it and she wonders if I was telling the truth and calls the dealer. The dealer says no recall on your car even though it was nearly every 03 Focus if I recall correctly that needed a new wire harness for the alternator or a fire could occur. She listens to them and leaves only to have it stall all the way out in heavy traffic in an intersection. She tried starting it with no luck so she went to push it. The car caught to much speed and ran over her leg busting it. The car rolled through the intersection where another driver stopped it. She called the dealer while in the hospital and got laughed at so she called corp. ford and got info on her car IS in need of the recall. She told the story and they said it was being fixed ASAP by the dealer that laughed at her. Well she gets her car after getting fixed up in the hosp. and on her aft. mark. stereo they programmed "sara dont play in streets". She is having her attorney handling this for her being shes a basket case and on edge. thats a dealer for you!

Good glad to hear you got at least an apology out of everything. You have possiblyaffected the Stealership more than you think, just by posing here, all the guys from GA will think twice before dealing there again. Good going, I'm gald to hear your enjoying the board, stick around awhile and enjoy, it's one big happy(sometimes dysfunctional family).
