Dash light questions ???

Did a search on this and there is a ton of crap but nothing addressing my problem that I could see. Yesterday I noticed that the right one third of my gauges are barely lit up like the gas gauge and the right side of the speedo. The left two thirds are great.
If it's a burnt out bulb where can I buy them without driving to my Toyota dealer who is 55 miles away? These are the white faced gauges with the red lights and I don't want to change them with any LED lights or anything that I would have to solider leads to, I'm really lousy when it comes to that stuff Brighter would be fine as long as I just plug them in.
Next question is does anyone know what I have to remove to get to the bulbs and how I do it? Never had my dash apart. Thanks for any help you may have, Mike

refer to tech section-how to's. Butnut shows you how~
http://www.4runners.org/articles/wfg/

I'd assume tacomas dashes are almost identical if not same as 4runners

there should be little bulbs that you can just twist out. Might be a little bigger than the HVAC lights.

Hey Beartracker

If your Tacoma is the same as my Runner then there are 3 (194) bulbs (like the ones in your front corner lights) that light up your speedo!!! just pull your speedo out and un-plug all the connectors theres 3 or 4, I haven't done it in a while!! The bulb sockets just twist 90 degrees then they slide right out, then just slide the green silicon bulb cover over the new bulb, and put everything back!!

Good luck!!

Thanks Limited. Mine are the red lights so I hope they have a red rubber on them. Where did you buy your 194 bulbs? Mike

Hey Mike;

There is a great write-up in Tech Write-ups under Maintenance & Repair/Dash Removal
https://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech...utnut_dash.htm

I hope this will help you a bit! Jesse

Got it done! It took me about 1 hour. A couple things that are different from the 4- runner write up is that I also had to remove the center dash piece, the one over the radio and heat/air controls and I also had some trouble taking duct work for the air and heat off on the left side. It all went back togeather real well.
Replaced all 3 lights while I had it apart. The 194 bulbs were .48 cents each at Auto Parts in town. Toyota wants around $4.75 each ,Lol
Thanks again guys for all your help, Mike

You haven't worked on a real Toyota until you worked on a Tacoma,
There was no problems and everything is the same except the center dash and the duct/Vent.
The only thing that really made me feel stupid was after I had it all back togeather and turned on the lights none of the dash lights worked.I checked it before I put it all back and it was fine. Checked the fuses and was just about ready to tear all down again when I looked at the dimmer switch and realized that I turned all the way down when I put the knob back on
