cv boot HELP PLEASE!!!!
I tore my driver's side CV boot recently and the dealership said that since I got a lift, they don't have the right one to put on there anymore...can anyone please tell me what I need to do about a busted boot and where I can get a good replacement one that can handle a lifted 4runner? Any help at all is appreciated.

According to your sig you have a body lift, but no suspension lift? If that's true then your suspension is exactly the same as when it came from the factory. The stock CVs will work fine. It's a fairly easing thing to change out, so if you're so inclined, you can fix it yourself for a lot cheaper. Do a search for CVs and you'll find a lot of info.

Yeah, they're giving you a load of BS. Not only would a body lift not matter, a reasonable suspension lift (2" or less) shouldn't either.
I had a boot replaced monthhs after my OME's were on, and they used a standard Toyota boot kit.

The ones Wheeler's sells are from Mecatech. They're not a direct replacement; you actually need to use a piece of the old boot as a gasket on the new ones (or something like that).
Keisur was going to be installing them, you may want to check with him.

I didn't realize they were that cheap to replace stock ones.That would be much cheaper.A front complete CV for a Toyota is only $70 max?I would have never imagined that.That's good to know.Where did you get those price's?

So Yote4x4, Did you get it fixed? I almost forgot my cv was boot tore... Does anyone know where I can find a writeup about replacing the boot (hopefull just the boot)? Cant seem to find it..

Nope, I haven't got it fixed yet...but tomorrow I am going to an axle shop and getting a new boot kit for around $25. I am going to be putting the new boots on this weekend with a friend and if everything works out alright, I'll give ya a write up on what I did.

Rebuilding the CV is easy. I think the only tricks were to mark everything so that everything lines up again, like the axle shaft and bell housing, and put the right grease in the inner and outer joints.
