CV axle boot issue

So both axle's cv boots keep tearing and i dont know what the issue is. I bought one already so i have a life time replacement part for free but i dont have the tools to do the install myself so everytime i have to pay to have it fixed. Any thoughts on why they keep tearing. One of my thoughts might be due to the lift.

Thanks
Bobby

Did you do the diff drop? That is most likely why you keep doing it.

Yeah, it's easy. I ordered the one from Sonoransteel because it's tapered. You can find them cheaper but that's just the one I went with. He'll send you directions, but basically you don't have to jack or support anything. Parking brake, loosen and remove the bolts holding on the current setup. everything will drop just about an inch, which is enough for you to slide the spacers in, put the new bolts in, new stover nuts on top, and tighten her up. Walla, your done. No more shredded boots!

research the diff drop before you do it. there are as many arguments for it, as there are against it.

The only down I've heard is that your boots get torn up if you don't do it. Everybody i've talked to says it's cheap insurance, just do it if your going to lift, especially over 2".

ive heard, and i dont know from experience, but read that it only drops the front angle of the diff, and can cause vibrations. there is a ton of info out there, just search.

The lift is increasing the CV angle so yes, the lift is a major part of the problem. Another possible factor may be the boot that is coming on your lifetime warranted axle. They sold it to you for relatively cheap...don't expect quality high-end parts. Either buy a high-angle CV boot or go for an OEM boot kit and put those on the new axle.

BTW...Having a diff drop is not going to eliminate the possibility of trashing CV boots. It will only help to minimize it.

The only special tool you need to pull a cv is a 35mm socket.
