Cruise Control Issues on 01 Taco

Two things have been interesting since I bought the truck 5 mo's ago and I'm wondering if anyone else has these issues.

1) Most makes cut off the cruise when you stomp the brake, my Taco does not, I have to hit the on/off button.

2) Sometimes the cruise wont work, but if I stop, turn the truck off and on then try it it works fine.

Anyone have these problems? I'm not as irritated by the not working thing, but it not cutting off with the brake is very irritating.

Just curious have you checked to be sure the brake lights are working properly ?? Have you checked for a broken wire or anything on the control unit or the brake switch by the brake pedal ?.. just ideas

Another question for you, how hard are you pressing down on the brake? Maybe the same circuit that shuts off the CC is the same one that runs the rear brake lights. In my truck I can lightly tap my brakes and not have those lights shine...

Of course, this is lightly...

I have to press them more than a quarter of the way down, thats what was so strange. My brake lights and everything thing around them seem to work fine. As much as I hate too I might drop it off at the local dealer the next time im off.

Try to adjust the switch you should see it behind the brake pedal arm and it should have like a lockbolt and you just undo that and twist the switch down, you will have to remove the wire onnector before you can twist it to much, or you may want to try and replace it. Your brake lights should come on as soon as you barely tap your brakes or it may need adjusting.
