Crankshaft Bolt
I have a little 94 Toyota 4*4 pickup 4 cylinder. I am trying like he** to remove the crankshaft bolt! ...It wont budge! I have even put a hydralic jack undernieth the cheater bar and all it does is pick up the truck off the ground! What the?
can any body tell me what gives with this bolt? is it a counter threaded bolt?...any body please

You realize how much torque it takes to get that off right?
If you dont have an impact gun, then you are going to have to use the motor itself to pop it off. I would explain how to do it, but it really would be best that you had a mechanic there with you.
It basically involves cranking it over with the breaker bar in place.

A whole lot of torque I know.I have taken a hundred of those bolts off in my years, never one like that one. Tried the Engine Method earlier today and it worked like a breeze. Thanks for replying.

I just did my water pump on my '88 and ran into the same situation.
I too was stumped then my father-in-law came up with an idea.
What he did was use a 4 foot bar (actually it was the bar from his floor jack) and some rope.
The rope diameter is small enough to fit in the groove of the pully.
We fed the rope down the bar, wrapped the rope around the pully several times then fed it back up through the bar and secured the end of the rope.
We rested the bar up against the frame to hold it in place.
We used a good impact wrench socket.
When you start to break the bolt, the rope will tighten up along the pully.
It took me about 10 minutes but it finally broke loose.

Use a 2 foot chain wrench (be sure to protect the pulley).
Then use about a 4 foot length of pipe over a ratchet.
You can generate alot of torque with those two lever arms!
Does still take some arm strength though.
