Couple pics of my new transportation
I bought this a few weeks ago. It was built by a guy who, I think, used to post on this board by the user name Rockota. 4" lift, 33's, ARB bumper, Tru-trac rear, 4.88's, and a bunch of stuff under the hood. I got to take it "offroad" last weekend for the first time. Got some dirt under the tires anyway.
Half an hour from my driveway.
If you look close, you can see the Maroon Bells on the horizon.
I know there's a lot of other Colorado residents on the board so let me know when you're coming my way to do some trails. I'm about 10 minutes west of Vail.

Those rims looked awefully familiar...then I read your ditty. Yep, that's Rockota's! You got yourself a very nice truck...he builds some nice ones and actually takes care of them too.

Thanks guys. I've been really happy with it so far. I just put a Cobra CB in it and have a list of mods I'd like to do as time and money allows. Isn't that allways the case, though. I guess I'll start with the cheap stuff and work my way up.
Taking it to Moab with Darren in a couple weeks so it will get a good work out then. If anyone wants to go, check out the trail ride planning section.

P.S. The Cobra 19DXIII fits prefectly in the 2nd gen ash tray opening if you cut the plastic out of the back and use a 90 degree elbow on the coax.

Sweet. Based on those pictures, I would say you were on that long arse road that goes to Deep lake, before you get to Coffee Pot campgroud (I think). I know that area pretty well.
Have a good time with Darren in moab.

looks sweet!
hey I love your ride and the scenery ain't bad neither. I wish i had that kind of spectacular view 30 mins from my door! All we got here these days is flat mud, cold mud. Be careful on the moab run. Enjoy! Aviator
EDIT: i'm looking for a CB to install in my truck and a good place to out it. (I wish they made one like they do for the HF setups in OZ with the faceplate/contriols in a seperate box from the guts for space constricted areas). Could you post a pic of your install? (Not trying to hyjack the thread){ TAKE ME TO CUBA OR I BLOW US ALL UP! HA HA}.

Yo Michael! I missed this thread earlier somehow. Nice to finally see some pics of it. Looking forward to checking it out up close, too. It looks tall!
So, give me some direction here on that second pic. We're looking S, SW, I assume. The Bells are in the center, or right-center? I'm going to guess they are in the center clump and either Sopris or Capitol is the one on the right-center? Am I close?! Do I win a prize?! I wouldn't have thought they would've been visible from near you. I'll have to search for Deep Lake that Scott speaks of. Haven't heard of it.

Scott is right. That is the road to Deep lake. Only about the first 10 miles are open right now, then you hit deep snow. The road is about 40 miles long and I'm told has some nice moderate level spur roads near the end. Ever been up these Scott?
The second pic is taken looking S-SW from above the entrance to Glenwood Canyon. I think Sopris is the peak furthest right. Darren gets the prize!
Aviator, I'll take a couple pics of the CB install and start a new thread. I'd looked to see if anyone else had posted on this before but the search function here won't let you search for the term "CB".
And alright already! I'll take the running boards off!

Yea, I can remember bashing snow drifts up that road in my F150 in the early eighties. It does take forever for the snow to melt out of the Flat Tops. Fishing in Deep lake can be awesome.
There are a lot of mild 4x4 roads back there that cover quite a big area. There is one particular road that connects the deep\heart lake area to the area west of there (near elk lakes). It has some challenging spots. I came through from New Castle, in my stock Tacoma while hunting and barley made it up this one obstacle in a snowstorm (thanks to the TRD locker).
You do indeed live in the middle of some nice country. Hope to see you on a run this summer.
