correct backspacing for lifted 4runners

if you have read my previous post about tires width in washington state , you might have the answer for me .
right now im running 33x12.5x15 baha claws with a 4" susp. lift, and my tires stick out approx. 2 inches past the fenders, im not sure what back spacing im running currently, but what is everyone else running on there 2nd gen. 4 runers? i currently dont have any tire rub at all. id like to keep it that way or minalmize it as much as possible , while still remaining within the limits of the law, which is wash. state as far as i can find , means no portion of the tire may stick out past the body line , whether it be with fender flares or body itself.
i may just do the fender flare option instead of changing the wheels out to a smaller back spacing. but id like to see what everyone else is running to defeat the law enforcment. this may not apply to other states though, as some are different.
thanks

there is no correct backspacing size, backspacing is dependent on many factors even vehicle manufacturing tolerances... if it matters, stock backspacing is 4.5"

having said that, i doubt a 33x12.5 will fit on a vehicle with 4.5" of backspacing....

ok, maybe i wored that a little wrong.
what would be the proper backspacing to acheive no or very minimal tire hanging out past the out side of the vehicle, with a 4 " susp. lift and 33x12.5x15 tires on a 95 4runner?

thanks

With the 4" IFS lift, you usually can't run any more backspacing than 3.5" or so to clear the suspension parts. Stock is closer to 4.75":

Without the 4" IFS lift, you can fit 33x12.50s on a stock backspace wheel, here's a '94 pickup, 15x8 wheels, 4.75" backspacing, 1" body lift and torsion bars cranked up an inch:

I am running 12.50s, I have a 4" IFS lift, and I have Bushwackers. I have 4 1/4" backspacing (I just measured it to be sure) on 15x8.5 rims and I would *probably* not pass in WA if the officer wanted to get me -he'd have to be real jerk though - the tread itself is *maybe* about 1/4" past the flare. Incidently, I could not safely run any more than 4 1/4" backspacing - there is about 3/8" clearance between my tires and suspension components.

Hope that helps.
