Colder thermostat?

What temperature thermostats do the 3.0 have?

Can I substitute a colder one, and if so, how much colder?

I always thought people install lower thermos to get the ecu to dump more fuel whic in turns more power.

I just put in a cooler thermo, 170 degrees to be exact. Got mine from NAPA for $10. Mine went in as one of the MANY mods to get my engine ready for the SC'r, which will be going in sometime in the next couple weeks.

The temp gauge is very slightly lower than where it used to be. I also did the full coolant flush / Redline Water Wetter mod / 70% distilled water / 30% coolant mixture at the same time, so I can't really say if it made a difference.

But yes, it allows the engine to introduce more fuel to the combustion chamber if needed due to lower temps. As long as you have more air, it should make a little more power.

It was a good mod for the money.
