I was just wondering exactly how coil spacers worked (revtek etc.). Obviously the name implies the spacing of the coils (duh), I am just a little unsure of how exactly it extends them. Does it actually fit between two coil rings, and phsically push them apart?

The reason I am asking these basic mechanical questions, is I am trying to figure out if it is an applicible lift for my 91 2gen. I replaced the rear coils with OME last summer, and the shop I did it at seemed suprised that a 91 had coils in the rear. Weither thats normal or not, I don't know.

If anyone has any feedback on this, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Coil spacers sit on top of the coilspring, going in between the top of the coil spring and the coil mount on the frame.

ahh, that makes sense. Now the only question is do they make it for 2gens?

Id reccomend looking into SDORI Coil spacers and team them up with a 1.5" Ball joint spacer up front.

And yes 91 Runners have coils in the rear.

Yes, coil spring spacers are available for the 2nd gen 4Runners:

Giving 1.5" or so of lift (a little more in back to level the truck).

All Pro Offroad has coil spacers that are about 120 bucks or so... they say they only give 2 1/4 inches of lift, buy I have them on my runner, and I swear its a full 3 inches... Before I did it, it was 12 inches rim to fender, now its 15. Looks good now.

Y I have 2.5" coil spacers in the rear and they work just fine. Amazingly I still have great flex in the rear too.

i know this thread was dead long ago but i didn't want to remake another thread on coil spacers. when purchasing 1.5" coil spacers are there any other modifications needed to be done? or is simply just slipping it ontop of the coil springs? thanks

You may need to adjust or raise the load sensing prop. valve sensing arm on the rear axle if you are raising the truck over stock height.

If just restoring stock height, then that may not be needed. Also, you may want to run a slightly longer shock if you find the existing shocks limit the suspension down travel (mainly an issue off-roading).
