Clutch whine but not the normal one

I have a 98 Tacoma 4x4, 5-speed 3.4L. I recently got back from deployment and started driving it again. Didnt notice this at first but when i push the clutch pedal in to shift, I hear a whining noise, sounds like a power steering pump with no fluid in it. I doesnt sound like its coming from the transmission area but from the engine bay. The fluid is full in the master cylinder. The noise goes away as soon as i release the clutch pedal. Any ideas? I searched but all I found was stuff regarding the throw out bearing when the pedal is not pushed in.
