So i got a new clutch put in two years ago at about 130,000mi and now i have 150,000mi and its starting to slip again... are there any other factors that could play in it slipping or did i get screwed on a clutch a while back because i thought clutches last for well over 100,000mi. any imput would be great. and if i do have to replace it again what brand should i get. i was thinkin marlin...

What are your driving habits like? Have you been wheeling lately and smelled your clutch get hot? Did you re-gear when you put the bigger tires on? A little more info would help you get answers.

The marlin clutches are extremely popular, you can't go wrong there.

i am as light on the clutch as possible. i have not re geared yet but have only had my 35's for less than a week. i have not smelt the clutch burn. and i the last time i wheeled was early march. i donno even if i had the bigger tires for longer and didn't re gear the clutch should still last for longer right...

Check out mine I posted a few days ago, "Deep Fried Clutch". Mine was killed by a bad inputshaft seal spewing gear oil on the disk

20,000 miles is a really short lifespan for a clutch, assuming it is being driven appropriately. I am not exactly sure of the effect of the 35's, but I am assuming the clutch will have to be slipped a little from a dead stop to get those meats rolling. Someone else please correct me if I'm wrong.

Go with the marlin like you said, and be sure to either resurface your existing flywheel, or better yet, get the marlin flywheel too. If it goes out again in 20k, you really should evaluate your driving and maybe gears.

i dont notice the clutch slipping anymore than it did... i have stock 4.30's and the 5spd so that helps. lol i really like to think i'm a good safe driver and doesn't slip the clutch. haha

check to see if your clutch pedal is adjusted properly. could be misadjusted and not letting out all the way.

When does it slip, just first gear on a hill or other times? Do you know what brand clutch you had put in?

i donno the brand. it was supposedly oem it slips in fourth when i floor it...

huh, did you check to see if it can be adjusted yet? 35's shouldn't make a clutch last only 20k. You have to think, stock tires have a leverage of 15.5 inches to the axle, 35's are only 17.5 inches.

ya i donno. the shop that installed if for me is going to check it tommorw and they thought it was very odd for it to start slipping already. so i might get hooked up...

35s + stock gearing = burnt clutch....

maybe you should look into correcting the problem instead of sticking a band aid on it

it was burnt out before i got the 35's though.
