clutch going bad. . . i hope

so it has come down to the wire i amhoping that it is just the clutch.
Here is the problem:

After 84000 miles whenever i drive up any hills and hit the accelerator my engine revs rapidly, like if i am cruising at 55 @ 3000RPMs when i hit the pedal the RPMs reev to over 4000 and i do not gain any speed. i have been told it could be my clutch does anyone here have any ideas/tips and tricks for replacing the clutch?? also anyone have any tips for picking a clutch or any recomendations.

Thanks,
John

Sounds like your clutch is in fact shot. Unless you plan on adding massive amounts of HP, I would go with a OEM clutch assembly.

New Clutch
Pressure plate
Pilot Bearing
T/O Bearing
Resurface the flywheel

Good to go. Will run you about $600 - $900 at the dealer, installed and warrantied for one year.

You may want to make sure there is no foreign substance leaking on your flywheel. Check the slave cyl reservior too. That is another indication of a shot clutch.

Get it fixed soon, because the rivets will start to dig in to the flywheel, then you will need a new flywheel, and that's even more $$.
