CHROME PACKAGE-Are 3rd Gen 4runner And Land Cruiser FJ90/100 Door Mirrors Compatible
I really like the chrome package that was fitted to some late model US 4Runners. Not everyone's cup of tea, but chrome looks great in the sunny environ. here. So far I've purchased the 01/02 chrome grille( a real ouch from the local dealership) and a secondhand rear chrome licence plate surround.
Next on the list is door mirrors, but they are a whopping $255 each in the states.
I have noticed that the door mirrors on the Landcruiser/Prado FJ90+FJ100 from around 1998/1999 are very similar to the 3rd gen 4Runner ones. Many companies on the internet offer a chrome housing for the aforementioned Landcruiser. None of them can confirm if they would go on a 4Runner
I have access to a Toyota parts list which confirms they have a similar part number 87910 but the second part of the number is different. This may be because the part that clamps on the door is a different shape. But looking at photos on the tinternet the actual mirror housing may be the same??
So........ my question is does anyone own a Landcruiser/Prado too, or a friend etc. who could confirm that the mirror housings are the same as the 4Runners???
The Landcruiser/Prado chrome housings are $40-$70, so this may be a good mod if you like the "shiny" look

Hi, I have a 1997 RZJ90 Prado. I'll check to see if there's a 3rd gen 4runner parked outside in the next few days, I'll compare the mirrors and will let you know.

I haven't been able to find a 3rd gen 4runner close by, maybe during the weekend I'll spot one and will be able to compare.
For now, see if this picture helps you. Both vehicles are Prados, the close up is my black mirror and the one reflected on it has the OEM chrome mirrors.

Roy Sharif- I know the mounting plates are different- which accounts for windshield rakes. I wondered if the Landcruiser mirror housing would fit on the 4Runner "post" Would the 3 screw holes line up?
Tepui- Thanks for the pic- Unfortunately It isn't too clear if they are the same
