chopped top 4Runner

Chopped the top on my Runner. I have 2 Subi WRX seats to put in and also doing a cage. I plan on using the truck for some prerunning for the mint 400 and down in Mexico, so the rear suspension will be getting some bigger, longer shocks. I ll keep posting pics as I go.

Some progress today.

Cleaned up the wiring, cut out closeout plate out of 14 gauge, and welded in a tube to strength up the cut area, to make it easier to plate.

I got some bling bling shocks, Fox 2.5' 14" stroke internal bypasses that I will mount in the rear.

I'm cutting the top on my 2nd/3rd Gen right away too, they look so killer. but i'm making mine removable (I like the inside storage). It'll be some extra work, but i've already got most of it figured out.

is it still the stock suspension back there other than the new fox's going in?

Good luck! excited to follow along!

It must really suck having a waterjet and toys like that to play around with and work on the 4Runner with. I'll be really interested to see how functional the top is and what your plans are for some attachment/removal system. Very cool project indeed! Sweet pictures!

A water jet is an awesome fab tool.

No plans for reattachment, with the weather we have here in arizona it's not too big of a deal. I might do a soft cover thing that attaches to the rear main hoop in the cage for the winter thought.

Will the rear be enclosed at all or just open all the time?
