Chevy spring swap question

I currently have my stock springs in, but I also have the shackles and mounts for the 63" chevy springs which I have in my garage. everything is already welded and all, its just some direct bolting to swap them out when i want to. the guy who did it though (previous owner) welded the front mounts about an inch too far to the rear of the frame. this causes some uneven lift in the rear. what would yall recommend for evening this out? is there something i can do the the leafs/shackles to lower it about an inch or some *cheap* way I can lift the front (by suspension) to level it? i've heard something about a spacer on top of the spindle but know nothing about it

So your worried about having the rear sitting higher than the front?

Since you've already got 3" up front, you should go any higher there. Might want to try and use a shorter shackle. Ive heard there is a variation in amoutn of lift from the chevies depending on how long they had been used.

yeah, rear sitting higher than the front. i can see shortening the shackles lowering it but wouldnt i have to shorten it somewhere along the liens of 2" if the axle sits in the middle of the springs? would that hurt my ride/flex ability a lot?

How long is your shackle? I am assuming you have installed them and that is how you know it's too big. What was your shackle angle?

You could try pulling out one of the chevy springs and replacing it with one or two stock ones. That might bring it down some. I think the optimum performance will suffer no matter how you try to "lower" it. If it were me I wouldn't touch the shackel, I would mess with the leafs, assuming you have a 45 degree angle.
