Cheapskate lift or bad idea?
I was helping my neighbor wrench on his 98 4Runner when we noticed his spacer lift was in bad shape. So were his front struts. I recommended he take a look at some newer coil-overs with 0-3 inch lift potential or even some used Tundra struts and coils. He took a liking to the Tundra option but steered it in another direction....he called a local auto parts store and sourced some 00-06 Tundra strut and coil combos from I think Monroe. Similar to this:

Much cheaper then even a used set of Tundra Bilstein struts. So is he a cheap genius, or is this a bad idea I need to talk him out of?

if its a replacement to factory parts then it should work fine. I've used monroe shocks, pre lift, on my truck and liked them, They did me good even when I shackled the rear and adjust the torsion bars on my 86 pickup. Prob will wear out faster then the stock blistens.

Just saying possible. Quality of each as a new product. . If the guy is just light wheeling mostly a street cruiser then Monroe's would do fine but if he does any wheeling often might wear them out faster. I wore my Monroe's out in about 1.5years
