CHEAP: Mounting Cell Phone

Ok, I have been wanting to do this for some time now, and finally aI have done it. For those of you that have a leather case on you phones and have never had a use for that little nob on the back b/c they don't want to be a and wear it on your belt loop? Well, Ive got a solution for you! Now, I have found the shift boot for the 4x4 transfer-case lever to work out fine, but I wanted something a little differnet and well... cooler! So I just dismantled the stupid belt clip, riveted it to the little blank over the ECT button and presto! A basicly free cell phone holder. Now the only thing is that the blank isn't THAT strong. I'm not too picky and can be careful with it, but you might want to put a little glue in there to make things a little more solid. I'm going to pain the rivets black so they won't stick out so much, I just wanted to share!!

One thing I forgot to mention... Well, on my clip... when I took the back of it off (the part that goes around the belt) It basicly pulled all the innsides with it that locked the phone in. IMHO, this is better. Gravity will keep the phone in place and enter/exit is easy. You could keep the back part on and just rivet it to the back part but you would definately need to glue the "blank" back in.

Hey that looks pretty good. I have the same phone too and usually just leave my phone in the little hole on the armrest. I would try your mod but I dont use the leather case. Thats some creative thinking tho

As I sort-of mentioned before. Another good place is up on its side to the left of the 4x4 transfercase selector. That hasn't been a bad spot, and I can usually feel it vibrate if the windows are down and stereo is up. Now I'm sure I won't have a problem feeling it through the arm rest. I'm not completely sold on the leather case thing but if you could see my last phone (Sam-A500) you would know why I use the case . For somereason I like to drop my cell phones... Oh well.
