changing the pinion flange

i just put an elocker in the rear of my 88 4runner. i wnat to swap out the pinion flange off of the '98 elocker third with the one from my factory V6 third, so i can just bolt up my d-shaft without redrilling. can i just undo the nut and swap them out without affecting the gears. thanks.

if you have a solid sleeve on the pinion then yes, just torque it to spec and re stake when done, if you have a crush sleeve, then maybe, if you were reusing the flange then you could tighten it back down to where it was staked before, but because your changing flanges the new one could be slightly thicker or thinner which would throw off your pinion bearing preload.... i would just pull the third and re drill

I made a jig to use to align the two flanges (with the pinion flange/nut in place). Slap the flange you want to match up to the flange that is installed, use the holes in the old flange to guide the drill for the new holes:

Holes can be drilled with the 3rd member installed or not.

i cant redrill it because the bolt spacing on the driveshaft is bigger than f the pinion flange, it physically wont fit. im pretty sure this third member was put together with a solid sleeve, not a crush. so i guess i wil just run the nut off and swap em out. does anyone know the torque spec for the pinion flanges.
