Car Audio question
What all would it take to install a DVD player, like this with my existing deck? Clearly, I know nothing about car audio, but I don't suspect it would be too hard. I guess I'm wondering if my current unit would have to have RCA outputs or inputs as well, so the DVD can run through it, then to the speakers, etc? The unit pictured is just a DVD/CD player, no radio, so I would need to maintain my current unit.
Don't go overboard with info on me here, I know you audio guys know a lot, but you will just confuse me if you get too technical. I need it in "Car Audio for Dummies" language.

Yeah u would need rca outputs. How do u power the dvd player does it just plug into the cigarette lighter or do u have to connect it to the the car's wiring harness? Either way it's a simple install. What is your current setup anyway?

Your current cd player will need to have some form of audio input to use. If it has none, you can probably use an RF modulator, but you will loose a great deal of SQ in doing so.
Also, the DVD player you get will need to be 12v based, or you will need a power inverter to run it.
Obviously you'd also need a screen of some form to watch the DVD's too.

Okay. We have a small tv/vcr combo that can work on a 12v system, so that is how we will watch the DVDs. The tv has RCA inputs. Our current unit is just the stock radio/cassette that cam in the car. I think trying to tie the above unit into the stock deck would be too much trouble, so I think I will go with the following> "PADVD-130
In-Dash DVD, MP3, CD CDR,CDRW Player
Built-in AM/FM Radio With Presets
Vaccum Loader for Multiple Angle Mounting
Dolby Pro-Logic/DTS Compatible
Front Panel A/V RCA Inputs
Remote Control
OSD On Screen Display
Digital Anti-Shock
NTSC/PAL Switchable
ISO/DIN "
I think all I will need then is a wiring harness and mounting kit.
This is a Power Acoustik brand, I'll get it through Summit. Anybody have any experience with this brand? I know it isn't the best, but I don't wan't to spend $500 just now.
Oh yeah, I understand the need for RCA outputs, but why are RCA inputs needed on these things?
