Looking for feedback on car alarms. No doubt many of you have too much blood and sweat invested into your rigs. Anyone happy with a particular brand or must have feature? Anyone who has been violated by some putz who would rather take whats yours knows how important a good alarm is. Thanks in advance.

I always go with viper. I had a few cheaper brands a few years ago and had to keep switching them about because of defects (3 times), and nothing is as reliable (IMHO) as a viper. I have the viper 560XV remote start, my 3rd vehicle with one, and I love it (and the girlies love it too, lol).

ive got a clifford which is pretty much the same as the viper (same company) and i havent had any problems with it. i have the 2.5 which is not top o the line but i dont need remote start which comes on the 3.5 (top o the line)

Did you guys install your systems yourselves? Viper states that only their tech can install in order for warranty etc. There are no dealers where I am. Hard to install??

That dealer only crap is just to scare you off......look at the pics in my sig and see if you want to attempt it....it's all there!

Not hard just time consuming and tedious.....you need to be meticulous about doing any wiring.

i had bestbuy do it at my employee cost (minus 50%) so its warranteed and i can bitch at them if anything happens

I had mine done at Circuit City where I work (-65%) and I got the Code Alarm CA-645. Its the best alarm system I have ever owned.

The remote start works everytime and the range is awesome!

I have the Python Responder and am thoroughly pleased with it. I've owned nothing but Directed alarms. I love the two-way feature on this alarm. A couple months ago, my 4Runner was parked in front of my work. I was sitting at my desk and the remote started chirping. I look at the LCD screen and the door was flashing. I ran up to the front door and sure enough, the door was open with someone inside. Luckily, we have a police officer at the front desk every day. I looked at him and told him someone was breaking into my truck. He ran out there and grabbed the guy. The kicker was the guy tried to tell the officer that it was his 4Runner.
If it wasn't for the 2-way remote, I'd be short either a stereo or a whole truck

Wish I had a hookup at Circuit City or Best Buy. The Viper goes for $229.00 and the Remote Autopage starts at $299.00 to $499.00.

Yeah, the discounts are really the only reason I'm still there. I just bought all new sound equipment and alarm stuff from them because I'm about to put in my 2 weeks

Ever heard of Disklok? Good, most people haven't of it either and I think that's a good thing. Less people know of it, less theives know how to crack it... I hope.

Anyways, I get bunch of questions and stares when people see this visual deterent.

1) call police see if they recommand any measures
2) ditto on insurance company
3) immobilizer MSI (ignition,starter, fuel pump
4) alarm pager
5) denver boot
6) disklok
7) hood pin to prevent hood being poped
8) shock sensor

disklok is a steering wheel lock. It.s a boot that goes over the steering wheel with a rod on it so you cant turn, access airbag or cut the steering wheel.
