Can I mount a brush guard on an '01 with the front skid plate?

I think I'm gonna buy one from another member on here this weekend, and I got to looking at it tonight and realized that I may not be able to mount one since I've got the '02 aluminum skid plate on the front also. Anyone done it or have some pics? Thanks. Later.

Nope, skid plate is mounted as it should be. The brush guard is a Waag. I was just worried about the skid plate interfering with the brush guard where it bolts to the frame. Thanks.

yes there is an adapter kit for the skid plate on the waag brush guard.

but it makes the skid plate stick out all low and forward and it looks dumb.

if you want the skid plate in the factory location, you're gonna have to trim the bottom of the brush guard.

like this: clicky here
in that pic you can see the trimmed guard and the brackets for the skid plate. the skid palte is not attached in that picture.

once on, it'll look like this:clicky here

Yuck. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to do that. Calrockx, how much did you cut off of the bottom? Did you just use a torch or grinder to cut it?

Yep. I definitely don't want to cut it, even though I could get some of our welders to do it at work and it would probably turn out decent. I've think I've decided to not get it at all. I was hoping this would be the last exterior mod to finish off the unique look of my 4Runner, but I guess I'll have to keep looking.
