A/C compressor stuck?
Okay, So while I was under my truck yesterday I noticed that I didnt have a AC belt anymore. That would explain the loss of cold air. :pat:
So I went out and got a new one and put it back on. But when I started up the engine and pushed the a/c button, the belt squeeked a little and the engine stalled. So I looked down at the compressor and it looks like my clutch is good, but the compressor or the pulley is not working. It just siezes up and wont spin. Is it time for a new compressor or could there be something wrong with the pulley?
One more thing, if anybody has time. Twice now, when I first go to crank the engine over, it doesnt do anything. So I turn the key back and try again, and it fires right up. Anybody got any suggestions? Alternator maybe? Thanks.

If you have a tough time turing it or not at all, then the compressor is toast.

Well, I loosened the nut that is on the pulley the other day. But I dont know if the pulley was spinning freely or not. Its kinda hard with the belt on it. Maybe IM not getting what youre saying??

With the engine and AC both off, you should be able to turn the compressor by the center bolt. The belt should not turn becasue the drive clutch is disengaged (AC off). I'd be willing to bet that the lost belt is a symptom, not a cause. Your compressor siezed, toasting the previous belt. BTDT.
