Well was looking under the 4Runner this weekend and noticed another CV boot had given up on me :cry: , I am thinking of removing the top plate on my Revtek lift to lessen my CV angles more, atleast this is on the other side that I did not get fixed a few months back. Anyone think this would be a problem ?
Just a FYI I do have the diff drop in already, came with the kit.
Or better yet should I just spend the money now and get SAW up front ?

that would not be a problem, that would definitely help you.

why would SAWs save your CV boots? use the money you would spend on SAWs and get manual hubs or a heavy-duty front bumper. either of these will reduce your CV boot rubbage.

Well if I got the Saw's I would be able to lower or raise the front at will and hopefully next time not cause another boot to go out on me so quick but I have to say its been lifter almost 2 years so I can't complain.
Good point about the manual hub conversion who makes one ? and how much ? So many choices to spend my money (creditcard) on.

Offroad solutions has one... but its ~1100.00 =) Im soo close I can smell the packaging... lol.

But then again you could prolley do it cheaper.

WT, talk to BruceTS. I remember him telling me about some good aftermarket boots you can get from Kartek (http://www.kartek.com/test.htm). They're located in Corona, CA but they sell some Heavy Duty boots I think from a VW that fits and are stronger than the factory Toyota one.

But then, more than likely you have to pay someone to do it too. I know the few peopel that have done it themselves have felt it was a pretty big project.

i was under the impression you only need the axles from a Tacoma (~120 each for remans). drive flanges ($125 each junk yard for ABS 100 for no abs), and then the locking hubs ($50 each?)

Anyone know for sure about this? What exactly is needed from the donor Tacoma? Prices would be nice, but a complete list of parts would be great.

Thanks for all the info guys, the manual hub thing sounds nice but I am way to lazy to do all that work and it looks like it would be pricey compared to replacing just the Axle shaft with a rem. one think it was about $100 or less for one at Autozone last time I checked
