I am thinking of buying some clear bumper lamp capsules for my '02 from Jason B. and I want to know if there is an Orange coated replacement bulb made for that application? If so, what is the PN please?

Are you talking about the turn signal lenses in the front bumper? If so, the bulb size should be in the owner's manual. I think for 2nd Gen's it is 1157, but not sure about 3rd's. And yes, they do make them in orange - that is what I use with my clear's.

Well, the NAPA parts store here only knows about basic level-1 type stock questions, and what bait to use for stripped bass fishing, so they weren't able to give me any more information than this:

The front turn signal bulb for the '02 is PN 7440. This is a wedge type bulb and it is HALOGEN. The parts guru :rolleyes: said it does not come in ORANGE. I do not believe he tried to cross reference the bulb number.

Can anyone else shed some light on this for me ASAP? :pat:

I read on Jason's site that he includes orange bulbs with the clear bumper lamps.

Huh, 3rd Gen's must have different size bulbs than us 2nd Gen's for the front bumper turn signals. I wish I could help you out more, but that was my best suggestion.

Actually, bulbs only come with the CORNERS.

He's talking about orange bulbs for the bumpers in the lower valance in orange and if anyone is using them.

UPDATE:

This is funny, but I was just looking on the S2000 board and people are clearing the parking lights that use the 7440 bulb (same as 99-02) stock bumper lights.

People were having problems finding them in orange, so one guy used an orange Sharpie markerand colored the clear bulbs with it. Everyone else followed his idea and said it worked great.



This seems to be the best/cheapest way to get them orange and to stay legal in some states.

Another idea is to get an LED Bulb This will keep the clear lens looking clean but still provide a legal yellow turn signal color. Legal colors are red, amber, orange, and yellow (and anything in between). Personally I'd go with the yellow if I got one of these. Also, they're LED bulbs so they'll never burst if you get water in the lenses and are actually brighter than standard 7440 bulbs. Also, I currently have stock bumper lenses, and they CAME WITH ORANGE BULBS. Well, that's my 2 cents.

Those LED ones were the one people found in yellow and some used them, but the ones I saw were $9 each. That's a good deal at $4 each, but you just hope they fit.



I would try the sharpie idea, then go for those if you don't like it.

Do you have CLEAR lenses for that and do they come with bulbs? ... On second thought, send me CLEAR bulbs and I'll use my Sharpie ... or at my age, my Sort-Of-Sharpie.

I found it wierd that NAPA only had clear wedgies. My '99 had amber plastic caps on the front & rear lens so a clear bulb works. I found amber bulbs (aftermarket Japan) at the speed shop. 10 bucks each. I use 'em for my annual safety check. I found a Japan bulb paint (like nail polish type) in yellow and used it for my rear turns. Looks nice. I'm still using an all clear bulb for my front turn sigs...looks light bulb yellowish anyway. Heyyy, that blue Runner looks familiar. Pam is sporting the hella highbeam headlights.
