Broken odo/speedometer + check engine light

went offroading today, truck worked great. ran through the mud pit about 3 or 4 times.

go to leave the offroading place and my speedometer and odometer no longer work. this causes a check engine light. the truck is running perfectly and i got home safely. i just didnt know how fast i was going and it didnt register any of the 100 miles we went.

i powerwashed the underside of my truck, hoping maybe it'll clean up and dry up and fix it self.

otherwise... what would cause this and how can it be fixed?

Search newbie!

Check your codes. Also search for my vss post, it has pictures, although I don't know if yours works the same way as mine since you're 2wd.

Nah, I was thinking of this thread:https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...&highlight=vss

And it did not self heal.

looks like i just figured out my problem. i was looking around under my truck and saw the odometer cable hanging. it came detached from the tranny

i'm gonna wait for the tranny to cool down so i dont burn myself

Mine was self healing, BTW

(Mine just got a good packing of snow to create the issue)
