hey ryans dad!

make sure the tank is as empty as possible, makes it much lighter and easier to manouever. get under your rig and clean any dirt/dust out of the way, it will drop into your eyes every chance it gets! give the bolts and nuts a good soaking of penetrating oil for a couple of days before you want to drop the tank. should make the bolts come out easier. having said all that, you may not have to drop the tank thouhg. if you are replacing brake lines, you may be able to run the along the frame and either zip tie or wire tie them to the existing lines. when i replaced the lines on my 86, we never touched the tank and ran the new lines along the frame next to the old ones.

Yep, comes down pretty easy. Open the hatch under the rear seat and undo the fuel pump and/or lines/wires and disconnect the level sender back by the passenger rear wheel well. The 6 bolts for the skid plate and 6 bolts for the tank and lower away. If you want to drain it, there is a drain plug at the rear of the tank. My first time, I used a floor jack to lower it until I realized how light it was. Now I just freehand it down and back up.

Does this work??? I need to do my break lines soon because they started leaking suddenly and my 4Runner doesn't stop. I am at college now and do not use the truck.

Is this a safe way to do it? Will they be secure enough for doing minor off roading but mostly street driving?

Should I just take the old ones down and put up new ones with the bushings securing it to the frame? I assume the bushings will break when coming off due to rust. I also assume the bolt will break in the frame.

Does anyone know exactly where the bushings are located, are there any behind the gas tank?

Also is there a universal size break line and/or what size is it on the 4Runner?

What size are the end fittings for this size break lines?

Thanks for all the help. I just wana drive my truck again :'(
