Body Lift really necessary if you plan on getting 285/75/16s?

I wanted to get your guys' expert opinions. Is a 1" body lift necessary if you plan on upgrading to 285/75/16 size tires in the future? The reason I ask is because I would like to get sliders for my 98 4Runner, but in order to weld them on, I need to know if I plan on installing a body lift. Thanks for your input.

Talking body lift

IMO, if you wanna wheel it w/ 285s on there, you are either going to have to trim and cut or get a body lift, or do both, not to rub like a fat girl in coudoroy pants!

Okay, I didn't need that visual this early in the morning

As for the BL, i think 1" should be soo minimal that the sliders location shouldn't change much I would think. Having some separation between the body and sliders will make it easier for you to clean too (some side note). outside of that, I guess it's all about preferences.

But if you want 285's, you'll have to trim alot like what Brian has said. Adding 1" BL's will def be a added plus though but there are alot of members here that have just trimmed and pounded to make the 285's fit nicely.

Its your call really. On my 98, with ~3" of lift, and 285's, I still get some rubbing on the front when turning, but its not enough to make me go back under and pound/grind some more. I don't run with mud flaps on the front or rear, and that helps a bit two. A 1" BL would probably help, depends on how much it bugs you to hear than nasty rubbing noise. It isn't doing any damage, but scares the crap out of you the first time you hear it.

After I threw my 1" BL on, I've had hardly any rubbing issues at all if any.

I'm running 285s with no body lift. I hammered back the inner fender and cut away some of the plastic. I only rub on the downhill turning hard left.
