Hi all, I just registered no longer then 5 mins ago, but ive been reading a lot of the threads and the suspension FAQ for lifts.

Im not really an offroader person even though I want to look into it in the future. So throwing in tons of money for a full suspension upgrade isnt possible at the moment. (Even though id like to) I own a 2000 4runner and I was thinking of doing a BL for it. What spacers do you recommend? I will be running stock tires and everything else.

I thought about the Datstar 2.5" 1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner Full Suspension Lift, Front & Rear.

Does anyone sell BL spacers that go higher then 2.5?

The 4runner is used for daily driving, I just want it to look a little different. What issues will I be running into if I have a BL? and whats this "bumper gap" that I keep reading about? does anyone have pictures? I found a few pictures but they seem to be blurry and it doesnt really show what I wanted to know.

I dont think you want to go higher that 2" for a body lift. Things start getting dangerous(correct me if im wrong guys). www.4crawler.com has the best body lifts/most reputable.

I didnt want to do the 1 inch because I've read that it doestn really show a lift. So yes, 2 inch is my idea also.

you want the ultimate lift blocks along with the Grade 8 Hardware and all the extensions and stuff

make sure you are positive u want to just do a bl.

to fit bigger tires, the bl will suffice, but ur ognna need diff rims.

Yes for sure I want a BL for now. When I do decide to get bigger tires, I'll buy the whole suspension set up.


I have an automatic transmission, does this effect the lift or anything?



So I should just purchase the whole kit for $149?

This is the millionth post to comment on it, but the 4crawler website is kind of DIFFICULT! It allows you to assemble your own kit. Read through it, and it'll begin to become clearer.
The bumper gap you speak of is what occurs when you lift the body up off the frame (body lift). The bumpers are attached to the frame, so they stay where they are as the body lifts..Similarly, the radiator lifts with the body, but the fan on the engine stays put. This can cause problems. At 4Crawler you can add different parts to the kit, such as bumper and radiator locator brackets, steering extensions, and shifter extensions. A body lift is affordable too, I paid less than $200 for mine, 2". You could also get a very affordable coil spacer suspension lift for your truck. Check out www.toytec.com
Oh, and I was quoted $700 parts and labor by a local 4X4 fabrication shop for a Performance Accessories 2" body lift kit install. Do it yourself and save the money. All the info is available on line, and Yotatech folks in your area will most likely help you out. Where are you located?

I was going to purchase the kit from 4crawler, assuming it will run around $200-$300. Then I was going to take it to a local shop for install since I dont have any tools of my own.

I live in San Diego.

So I will need to purchase the kit that it sells complete, plus the radiator and bumper locator brackets and then im fine, correct?

yes. I dont remember, but some people dont use the radiator bracket

Ive also worked on cars before, suspension work and all. I use to be into the little hondas and stuff so im kind of familiar with suspension and all that stuff. I just think the bigger 4runners and stuff are harder because the size. but i might be wrong. I just dont have a jack or anything to lift the huge piece.

Millenion, glad to hear that you enjoy our rants and the strange hours that we log onto this forum . Anyways since you're in the San Diego area, we may be able to combine our wrenching to a single day. One of the guys on this forum is going to be helping me on the suspension upgrade on my truck and if he's cool with this, you could meet up with us and we'll both help you out (and get your 4runner on a lift for $1 - i'm not kidding). The easiest thing to do is just call Roger and order what you need over the phone. I'd get the radiator bracket for the 2" BL, you'll definitely want the front bumper bracket, and the steering extension. Also, if all you have is basic hand tools and a jack, this mod is so easy to do in a couple of hours.
