bilstein 1500 shocks on stock 98 4x4 taco rear end?
i originally posted this in the taco maintenance forum, but i didn't get many replies and the topic applies to offroad modifications so i decided i would try reposting it here. forgive me if i'm posting in the wrong place.
anyway, my stock 98 4x4 taco needs shocks... BAD! it's got 115,000 miles on the original shocks and they are all blown. now, i have some bilstein 1500 shocks that i used with a 4 inch traildisaster lift kit on my old 4runner.... so these shocks are considerably longer than the stock taco shocks.
my question is, would these shocks fit into the stock mounts on a taco rear end? or would it even be possible to make/fabricate a mount so the shocks sit at a 45 degree angle pointing inward above the axle? would this add any extra articulation or benefit rear articulation/handling in anyway (with stock leaf springs)? correct me if i'm wrong, it could just be a big waste of time. i've just seen shocks mounted like this before and i was curious.
i just have these shocks laying around and if i can use them then i will save some bucks on buying new shocks!!
i also plan on adding the tundra trd 4x4 coil springs up front with either trd or ome shocks!
any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks to all
