bigger tires without lift ?
Has anyone tried putting 265/70/R17 tires in 2003 4Runner without any suspension lift? The original ones are 265/65/R17. Will there be any rubbing or other problems especially during off road, or with sharp turns.
I need to replace the tires now, but need time to decide upon the type of suspension lift. Have decided to go either with the 265/70/R17 Bridgestone Revo AT or BFG AT KO. Any suggestions to which one is better? 90% of my driving is on paved roads, including 2 weeks snow/ice conditions in winter (Lake Tahoe area for skiing), and 10% is off road (limited mostly to ratings 1 to 3, and some 4 and 5 in the "Backcountry Adventures" books by Massey and Wilson).

BUMP... not to hijack your thread, but i've also been debating on bigger tires without a lift. Biggest i've seen just driving around town were 255s on a 3rd gen. Anyone have any pics?

I think the Revo would be beter for your requirements, but the BFG's look better imo 
265-70/17 fits no problem, you might get slight mudflap rubbage at full lock but it wont hurt anything.

If you do a search, you will find that they will. The main issue is the spare fitting. 265/70/R17 is as big that will fit in the well without major modification.

you have the more basic 15" steel wheels or the 15" 6-spokers.

Am running 265/70/R17 BFG AT KO's on an 03' Sport. Fit is no problem and no rubbing in city, highway or off-road. Replaced the spare also and fit is no problem.
