Run lukewarm water through it from inside breathing surface to outside

let dry a long time-shake it once in a while to knock off the droplets

avoid temptation to use hair dryer or microwave to dry it out

Re-oil and let sit again. do not over oil. Shake and make sure no loose oil shakes off.

Did you buy the True Flow cleaning kit and just need to know how to apply it? If not, you need to buy the kit.

EDIT: Here's a link to buy their cleaning kit and instructions on how to:

http://www.hyperformanceauto.com/sto...5891C4658.aspx

Here's another one: http://www.autoanything.com/air-filt...A1964A0A0.aspx

I have a dumb question, more of a clarification question. When I spray the oil back on, am I spraying the back side too? The side with the metal mesh? I know with K&N you only sprayed one side... but the instructions say to spray "inside and out" for true flow.

I spray both sides, more so in the front than the back. As a precaution, i'll let the oil fully absorb for about an hour before reinstalling or driving.

yes Rocket has it exactly right-do not overspray to the point of saturation-and let it sit for quite some time then check for drips so you can see if you did overspray it.

Is the K&N re-oil kit the same as the trueflow? I have a kit laying around from another vehicle and am considering using on the trueflow prior to ordering the trueflow kit.

Someone told me that too much oil may affect maf sensor? Personally I'm conservative with the oil. Don't drench it.. my 2 cents

yes High Water Drifter has it right-too much oil can gum up the air sensor-I experienced that with K & N FIPK system on my '95Runner-2nd gen.

I would doubt that the chemical compound in the 2 is identical-but likely similar. The Tru Flow uses more of a foam type material for the filtering, while a K & N filter is more paper-like.

Why not just trade your old respray kit with someone with a K & N or swap for some other part with them?

between this forum and T4R.org you should be able to find someone willing to trade/buy/donate.

I read somewhere that "normal" air filter oils aren't to be used on the trueflow filters. I wish I could remeber where... lol

I have a K&N. I used the suff that they sell and it works OK. I now use warm to hot water and some dish soap. Works great!

Yes, oil LIGHTLY! Too much oil and you gill gum up everything past the filter.
