Belts squeeling

Ok, my belts squeel really bad, and it is really annoying. The truck is nice and quiet at idle, except for the stupid belt squeel. It does it when they are wet and dry, so its not a matter of them being wet. What could be causing this, and how do i fex it?

They may be too loose or too tight. You could try some 'belt dressing'. It comes in a spray can at all auto parts stores.

How loud is it?
If it's screeching check the water pump, if possible.

yep, mine was VERY noisey at idle, was embarassed at drive-thru's.. ended up having a shot AC belt, and Water Pump (kinda a loud 'chirp', sounds really similar to a fan belt). Also, the power steering belt was an aftermarket job, that was too short and stretched to its limits... quiet as a mouse now.

You are saying the water pump is bad? Or the waterpump belt? I have been wondering about checking my timing belt and water pump, i have no idea the mileage on my engine, it is a newer engine that was swapped in by the previous owner, its believed to have around 60k on it, but no way to know for sure, the truck itself has 240k on it, but i know for fact it is not the stock engine (compared engine block serials with a VIN lookup at Toyota, and they were different)

Belts you can quiet down by messing with them, the water pump you can't.
A noisy water pump is a very high pitched with a side of metal sound thrown in.

You might check the belt idler puley(s). When the bearings start to go in them, they squeal and make lots of noise. Bearings on all but the V6 water pump are easy to replace, I have the parts available for most of the Toyota idler pulleys.
