Bad Brake Booster?

Well, my truck is in for timing chain guides mostly... and my brakes suck.
Mechanic went to take it for a spin, felt the brakes, and decided that
wasn't a good idea. He did a little checking and it seems that my brake
booster may be frozen up inside?

Vacuum on both sides, but makes no difference in pedal feel whether the
truck is running or not. Anyone had this problem? Know where I can find a
decently priced booster to test this theory?

Unplug the vac line to the booster(and plug the line) and drive it .If it's the same the booster is inop.As for price,go to a boneyard.Boosters really dont fail that often,so a used one will probably work just fine.
