Ash Tray / Coin-purse

The one and only issue with my Tacoma is: The stupid ashtray. Since I dont smoke I use it as a coin depository. Thats fine and dandy but it can only 10 coins max before it opens up on acceleration and spill onto the floor.

Is there any fixes??

I pulled mine out and bent up the metal bracket inside of it so that it was a tighter fit in there. That seemed to solve the problem for me.

Mine is used for two of the large packs of gun. One goes in back unopened and the other rides toward the front, opened. Never did have a problem with it opening by itself, lol. My change goes in the change holder in the council and some in the console itself in the back.

that's what i did. ....i just unscrewed the metal bracked and bent the sides in toward each other. ....it was too tight to begin with and i couldn't get the tray back in, so i bent them back out a little. ..problem solved.

GEEEEEESSSS, I never would have thought that anyone would be so picky about one misspelled word or that it would be very difficult to figure out that there is not TWO LARGE PACKS OF "GUN'S" in my ashtray and that I meant gum. Thanks for pointing out my mistake no matter how minute, Mike

200t4r, I wasn't upset about it as you seem to think. In fact, that's why I placed the funny face in my reply. Just another good example of misunderstandings when your not talking face to face. I can take a joke or raze as well as the next guy. No harm or intent on my side and I'm sorry if you thought there was. Have a good one and your welcome at my fire anytime, Mike

Thanks Mike, sorry if it came across that way I was only trying to be funny at the fact that you keep 2 guns in your ash tray.

Now, go bend your brackets a little then come back and tell me I was right and say thank you!

I put my Sirius receiver on the bottom of my ashtray in my 98 4runner. It would slide open as I drove... I had an extra window tab (heavy duty velcro type material) for my EZPass, so I cut it into 4 small tabs and put them in the top corners of the ashtray. Hasn't opened by itself yet....

This may be an option of bending the bracket isn't enough to keep it closed.
