The first winter storm for West Virginia has done me a favor. Wife & I were out Saturday and got caught in the middle of it. Hit some nasty stuff on some of the back roads and ended up sliding into a low ditch - no damage!!! But, couldn't get out because of the ice/mud despite all attempts with 4x4. Along comes a gentleman with a lovely Warn XD9000 on the front - we're out and on the way.

Wife asks - "didn't we buy the ARB because if was capable of mounting a winch??" Followed by "where the hell is it??" Of course refering to my failing to purchase a winch. Got to love them ladies.

So, naturally looking to cash in on her good nature and buy a winch. What models will fit into the ARB Prado Bull Bar - I'm guessing the M8000 and possibly the XD9000. I'm leaning twords the 9000 as right now most places are carrying it about $100 more than the roller fairlead 8000. Durango 4X4 has the XD9000 @ $745 with shipping right now. Also, I understand that the ARBs usually do not require a mounting plate as they have been constructed with an internal one - is this correct.

Any other suggestions/recommendations?? Thanks

the M8000 and the HS9500 definitely fit, dunno about the XD.

none of the winches with the integrated solenoids (the "i" models) will fit, you need a winch with a seperate solenoid pack.

try calling ARB USA, they'll probably know

Andrew, I have the XD 9000 on my rig.

Great winch.
I paid $719 for mine with the roller fairlead from Central 4WD.
They did give me a "slight" price break on it since the week before I bought the ARB bumper from them.

If the M8000 fits, the XD series will fit also as they are the same configuration and style with the solenoid pack being not built in.

I have the Prado bar as well and have an HS9500 in it. The XD9000 and M8000 will also fit. All you have to do is make sure you *don't* get an "i" model of the ones above.

4wheel wholesale parts has the M8000 on sale for $499.00 with free shipping. Ordered my ARB and winch yesterday.

I called them - that price is for a hawse fairlead winch only. A roller fairlead is about $100 more. I got an XD 9000 with roller from durango4x4.com for $700 shipped!!! It will be here on 29 Dec - can't wait.

I'm trying to figure out which OME set up to go with. If the 881's up front will not sag too much than thats fine. Just don't want to get into cv problems.
