I noticed it, too. People at my school talk about upgrading to 31's like it's a magic number for their explorers and rangers, I'm like yeah, I have 31s...from the factory, and my car even starts when it's cold.

I've seen some huge looking F-350 Superdutys with 235s. What gives? They look like pizza cutters on those big trucks.

So True
This is definately true! Even within Toyota, it is. My mother drives a '00 Land Cruiser and her tires are smaller than mine! By the way the Land Cruiser weighs more than a Suburban.

The new land cruisers (by new I mean like anything past the old station wagon ones) aren't really for offroad, yes they are capable, maybe more capable stock than a 4runner (w/ lockers and solid axles), but that's not really what they are for. They cost and weight too much to be a trail rig for most people. I got my 4runner because it's the only offroad-capable SUV (in my opinion) Jeeps are probably good/better offroad, but they are trendy (ever third college student in my town has a bright red wrangler w/ smitty built bumpers) and honestly I don't think they are as good a vehicle. There's really no SUV that can compare to the all around goodness of a 4runner, I'm sure people on jeep forums or mitsu forums or ford forums would disagree but on the trail I think toyota reliability speaks for itself. it may not get you over the biggest boulder, but it will get you home.
