heads up this sig oing to sound uber ricer like but ........................................ im startin to absolutley love the sound of all the turbo'd cars blow off valves going off and want that same sort of a noise. is there any way to aquire it without hurting my engine or doing something retarted like that exhaust tip plug that someone posted off ebay? thanks guys

Your SC doesn't have a blow-off valve, at least not an external one if any at all. It may have some sort of recirculator but I don't think so...

i dont think any SC have BOVs because the pressure is decreased as the revs drop so theres no need for it. turbos down spin down or spin up as fast so the pressue can get built up between shifts and cause some problems...BOVs can have a negative effect on boost build up if you have one that vents to atmosphere because it just waists that boost to make a cool noise..If you have a recirculating BOV it can help the turbo spin up faster again when you shift..unless you want to just blip the clutch when you shift. and keep your foot on the gas

The problm with venting to atmosphere is that the air that escapes has already been metered by the AFM and therefore the ECU has upped the fuel mixture accordingly. This makes the car run rich for split second while you shift. That's why a lot of cars (like my old All-Trac) would often backfire while shifting.

The supercharger (g-lader) in my VW Corrado had a recirculator that scavenged air between shifts so at least some SC's have a blow-off of sorts.

Either way though I don't think their is anyway to do what he wants to do to a TRD SC. Sorry no rice for you

a BOV is for a trubo... nto a supercharger... other than forced induction the 2 systems are not the same......

superchargers do have a burst panel, and thats what i thought you were refering to.. but it wasnt.. the burst panel makes the supercharger break a replaceable part rather than doing major internal engine damage...

Most of the time the blow off valve is only used when the throttle/air flow sensor is after the compressor (centrifical supercharger or turbo).
A roots type blower will not have one since is air has already been metered.

Turbos use Blow Off Valves. Superchargers use Bypass valves. The BOV only opens for a short amount of time when you let off hte throttle to let off hte pressure because the snail is still building boost, so the pressure has to be let off so you dont have compressor surge. Once the snail slows down, it is not building boost, therefore not needing to have the valve open. With an SC, when you let off the throttle, it stops building the "big" boost, but it will continue to push air torards the throttle plate, hence the need for the BPV to alvays be open when off throttle...

I know there isnt a bov on a s/c there is a pop off valve on top of it. anyways im goin to get drunk if there is a way to change the pop off valve letme know
