Antenna Question
I haven't been on the forums for a while, but I remember seeing way back when, a thread on swapping out the motorized antenna for a standard type, however I can't seem to bring it up on the search.
Could someone please direct to the thread I am searching for or possibly tell me what is involved in the switch over?
Thanks.

Another option is to splice a switch into the power antenna line behind the radio. That way you choose when it is up. There is another antenna in the rear most passenger side window that gets decent reception and you could just put up the power one when you need it. That way is doesn't break in the carwash or on trees.

I just cut the power wire to the motor and it stays up all the time, but I can lower it by hand if I need to. I never use the radio though, just an ipod so I should probably just leave it down.

i replaced my power ant. with a regular style on my 98 4runner. All i did was pull the pass. frt. fender liner loose. pull the motor and mast out unplug harness. then pull radio out and disconnect antenna. pull it out. put regular mast assembly in place and route wire back up to radio and plug it in. pretty straight forward.
