Another Vibration Thread

i've searched all over the website and couldnt find anyone with the same problem as mine.
anyways, my problem is my runner vibrates when it accelerates. The vibration is small but enough to make the rear view mirror vibrate to the point where i cant determine what kind of vehicle is behind me on the freeway. When i let off the gas or reach @ 70 mph, the vibration stops. any thoughts on what could be causing this? One more thing, sometimes when i accelerate from stop, i hear what seems like a "clanking" noise which sounds like its coming from the tranny. Again, this is only sometimes. Thanks in advance for any input

It could probably be the driveshaft out of balance or bearings going bad. I'm not too sure on the ADD Toyotas so it could possibly be in the front drive axles? Someone here hopefully can correct me on this.

Could be tons of stuff. Always start easiest and cheapest first, then work to harder/more expensive. How old are your tires? Do you rotate them often (they could be out of balance and/or out of round). I don't know about your clanking noise, but if you are running A/T's that have some miles on them, and you don't rotate them every 5-7K miles, they can easily start that type of vibration. Of course, could be a lot of other stuf too.....

Thanks IronMike and JGM. I was thinking that it could be tires but i noticed that the vibration stops when i let off the gas. So, i ruled the tires out thinking that it would vibrate no matter if i step on the gas or not. If it is the driveshaft, how much would something like that cost to repair? Thanks again

See if you can find a GM dealership that uses EVA *electronic vibration analyzer* it will help determine the cause much better before you just replace the driveshaft.

Ok, now the problem seems to be in reverse. My runner vibrates when i let off the gas pedal unlike before when it happened only when i accelerated. I've done the wheel rotation and still have the same problem. Any thoughts, anybody? Thanks

i had a mazda truck and it would vibrate for the whole time i was letting the clutch out and it turned out to be the clutch plates being warped. so maybe its your tranny... but i doubt it. also on that truck the drive shaft somehow got craked and it would vibrate but only at speeds over like 50mph.
