Another Tundra TRD lift installed: 2002 4runner!

After many months of researching I finally did the TRD coilover lift on my 2002 Runner. I had been running the OME rear coils and shocks with the cone and gained 2.5" solid. I installed a 2.5" Daystar up front that I had sitting around for a while. It did not give but about 1.5" lift and the truck sat raked pretty badly. After the shocks went bad I decided to track down a set of TRD coils and found a set on Tundra Solutions for $125 with the yellow Bilsteins.

The pics below show the installation. It took about 6 hours hungover. Probably could have taken less not hungover, but it was the weekend!
The truck went from about 36 1/4" from the ground to about 37 1/4" after the alignment. As you can see in the after pics, it sits completely level on all 4 corners with even 2.5" overall. I added a 5/8" Revtek top out spacer and 1" diff drop as well from Wheeler's(great guys). I must also ad that the yellow Bilsteins are AMAZING!! The truck rides almost like it did stock with the 4runner springs, but is a tad stiffer and corners much better. It is a VERY plush ride. I don't see how any other shocks could ride much better honestly. My truck is shown before with the daystar lift next to my brother's '94 runner with 2.5" Downey torsion bars and coils. Hope y'all enjoy.

get a photobucket account and upload your pics there. Then when you make a thread here use the img link code for the pic.

Btw, 4Runner looks good!

Those wheels are my favorite. Truck looks good! Will the wheels fit on a '99 runner?

Truck looks good.

I have the Daystar 2.5" spacers on the front of mine too. I only gained about 1.75" of height from stock. I don't understand how they can advertise them as a 2.5" lift.

I hope to be replacing mine this summer too. Hopefully with SS 1.2 kit.

Sorry, I forgot! They are 265/75 and are great tires.
Cheers!

looks good bro. By the way, I found some 906's for a sweet deal $50 and the last L.C. wheel I needed from the same guy. mI have to wait for them as he is getting new 891's for his. So mine will be riding similar to yours except with 16x8 series 80 wheels. Im also leaning toward 265/75's. 33's would be nice, but I think they really zap your power/mileage. You runnin the 906's with the bumpstops and the O.M.E. trim packers right! Let me know. Looks good, though I would lose the running boards. Just my 2 cents! Bob

Bob,
Thanks for the comments!! Yeah those runner boards are gay! Just saving up for Westin nerf bars. They do save your paint from rocks and s opening their doors into your truck though.

I am running the 906's with just the cones that the stock springs came with. No trim packers. The TRD springs have a 3/8" Topper on em. Dude, I'm jealous I really dig those LC wheels. And yes I agree that 33's will kill a bit of your power but would look killer! Good luck!

Hey I'm about to work on my lift. I have the trd tundra coils (yellow/blue and yellow/yellow color code) with the stock yellow/blue bilstein shocks. I wasn't sure if I should just swap out my stock suspension and throw those in so I was wondering how has the ride been? Have you been able to flex or wheel much? Also if you could, can you post the part number on those yellow bilstein shocks? I want to see if we have the same thing for comparison. I'm gonna be throwing in fj80 coils in the rear for a little rake. Your truck looks leveled and great! I have the taller 99 coils so I'm not sure if this will even provide me with enough lift. All non-99 guys gain more "lift" because they start off a little shorter. Thanks for any info in advance!

Hey 99Runner,
Yeah the truck rides awesome! I flexed it on a nice sized stump and it articulates well. If you order the 5/8" topout spacer from Toytec lifts you should gain over an inch and a half over the stock coils. I just used the 3/8" spacer on mine and it looks fine. The Bilsteins will be an upgrade as well IMO. Part # 48510-AF030. Good Luck!
