Another stolen Cat!!
Well last night my cat converter was stolen while visiting family lasting from 10:30pm until 4ish o'clock in the morning. Drove it home thinking the exhaust just rusted out but nope checked this morning to find out the cat was sawed off. I checked to see if my first 02 sensor was still intact (it is) but I think they cut off the 2nd one (Going to double check).
My questions are:
The 2nd o2 sensor is right after the cat right? *Looks like they cut a little more passed the cat but CEL didn't come on while driving it home though. (Going look for the o2 sensor/wiring) And its purpose is to detect if the cat is working correctly (correct me if I'm wrong on that)?
I was going to my have my fab guy weld in a piece and just run it without a cat. I live in Nebraska and we don't have any emissions. But what are the cons of running it like that. Bad gas mileage maybe? CEL for anything other then not detecting the cat? My GF daily drives it and she doesn't mind a CEL (just want a temporary fit ATM)
Thanks in advance,
Rey

you can run this o2 simulator http://www.urdusa.com/Electronics-Re...vsba8ktcfsii52 install a straight pipe and eliminate the cat if your state laws allow. can't steal a cat that's not there. running without a cat will not affect performance.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm going to look into the o2 simulator. Never used one of those, always used EcMlink to get rid of CELs for my DSMs. I'll post if I have any other questions I might have. Thanks.

You can also build that same thing for about $15 at radio shack. there are some posts on here with how to do it.

good stuff TA, with that diagram i won't have to run a second o2 like the urd kit. i read jason's swap thread before but didn't remember that post. this i will use as well as the coolingmist w/m injection to tune when i sc my rig. lots of gold to mine on yotatech lol... thanks again.

So basically it is the same as the URD, only a lot cheaper.

Dude that totally blows, I hate thieves. Had mine and the freaking muffler sawed off a while back while on College Campus while I took my Finals. Karma will nip them in the butt sooner or later...

same thing happened to me not too long ago this winter. It's a pain in the ass when it happens. Police reports wont cut it and if i went to kill that person who i truely believe that he did it.... i'd be in jail. So it's not worth it

I almost had mine stolen a couple years back. I had been thinking of ways to protect it and i recently came across this product. http://www.catclamp.com Not bad on price for the basic model.

Cat-nappers hit my brothers church a few years ago, 30+ cars in a few hours.
Well video surveyed lot with multiple face shots of baddies, police still will not do anything.
Scrap guys around here will not touch a cat anymore, they will buy as steel but no big cash-outs to crackheads.
