Another Help Thread - Parking brake light on 85 runner
Just took my 85 runner through MD Inspection and failed for a few things - I have fixed everything except the light that indicates the parking brake is engaged. Can anybody help on how to trouble shoot this?

There are two sensors which turn it on, the brake fluid level sensor, or the parking brake sensor. Check for low fluid, or a "sticking" fluid sensor, which should be in the brake reservoir cap, also check that the parking brake sensor is working properly. If everything checks out, one of the sensors is probably bad.

I don't even have a sensor hooked up to the MC reservoir and my parking brake light goes on and off as it is engaged. I've removed the whole rear portion as I put an e-brake on the t-case, so the sensor has to be on the front part of the cable or up by the lever in the cab.

Okay, I checked the sensor that the e brake (manually) releases when the hand brake is pulled - one of the wires was off - i soldered it back and tested with a meter and the sensor works...but the Light still does not! How do I test the sensor in the MC Cap? Also, can I test the brake indicator light by running the two wires from the sensor right to a hot and ground?

Um, are you sure it's not just the bulb? Does it come on when you turn the key on?
