Another Dealership Screw-Up Vent

But this time I thought my life might be endangered.
I had my headgasket replaced a few months back and have had several problems since.
These include vacuum lines not connected and missing clamps, egr nut not tight, egr electrical plug not hooked up, downpipe bolts not connected to the transmission (caused O2 sensor to rattle until it broke), clamps to air filter to throttle body all loose. There are even more I can't remember right now.
It took 4 trips back to the dealer to fix.
The latest problem happened saturday night as I was traveling down the interstate with my wife and 8 week old daughter. We were on the highway for about 2 miles when I noticed the car would not slow down. The gas pedal seemed to be stuck. So I tried pumping the gas pedal and all that did was make it go faster. We were up to about 75mph when I freaked out and decided to put the car in neutral, well you can guess what happened, the rpms went all the way to the end of the gauge, I'm talking 8000-9000 rpms.
I immediately shut the car off and coasted across 3 lanes of traffic and onto the shoulder.
The problem was caused by how the dealership routed the cable. The cable was bent at 90 degree angle right after where the cable goes thru the firewall and into the engine bay. It should come straight out and than gently curve back over the manifold. The plastic covering the cable tore at the bend and got stuck thus causing the pedal to stick.
The dealership has been cooperative the entire time and I had a sit down with the GM and head tech after the last problems I had.
I just want it fixed right, and I hope I didn't damage the engine.
Thanks for listening

:wtf: I would think you could possibly have grounds for a lawsuit there. I wouldn't worry too much about your engine as long as it was just a real quick spurt. One time I had just did a new intake mod and was in the driveway revving the motor and it stuck wide open under my floormat. I saw the tach hit like 8 grand but I immediately got it shut off. Haven't had any problems since.

Whoa!
Smart thinking! I hope the dealership gets their act together. That's pretty negligent, even for a dealership!

Do the 2nd gen's not have rev-limiters or something? How are you guys hitting 8K RPM?

Just got my truck back.
The new cable made my gas pedal light as a feather. I don't have to push hard anymore and throttle response is much quicker.
I would recommend a new cable or slick up your old one somehow.
Hopefully this is my last trip back to this dealership, ever!
