Well I thought it was a ac compressor belt being loose but noooo. I replaced the pensioner pulley as the old one had a light click when you shook it. Well needless to say it is still whining like a $2 whooooa bicycle. I thought maybe vacuum hose but can't find a thing.

Belts had been replaced, dunno how to check the ALt. bearing short of just grab and wiggle it. Is it just the pulley bearings.... or the entire alternator? My dad keeps telling me it sounds like a whistle which would indicate a vacuum leak, I checked my vac. lines and noticed some were aged and other looked fine.

Well, it sounds like its definitely a rotating part. I know you already knew that though.
If it were me, Id spray some silicone spray on the pulleys, to see if it helps at all...obviously try not got any on the belts themselves, or the contacting surface.
I hate little noises

Ok so it's at least somewhat applicable. Man I Hate to buy an ALT and have it not fix the problem. But I Had noticed my dual battery manger thats acting odd and a bad ALT might have something to do with it.

Lets see it's $128 for a ALT + a core, I called around to find out about seeing if I can get the old one rebuilt for a price and perhaps about 150 amps. Mean Green makes em but there $400. Youzer.

I was having the same noise problems and I've had a 150amp Alternator that I've been neglecting to install. Installed it a couple days ago and my noise problems went away.
I also did the big 3 wire upgrade while I was at it, upped everything to 4awg.
I paid somewhere around $200 for my 150amp alt but I don't remember where from. Just look around online.

I hope my used one lasts a couple of months so I can get my old one rebuilt. I don't run anything more than stock electrical components on this truck so hopefully a rebuild will be cheap for my old one compared to buying a new one.

Well it isn't the alternator, as I swapped in a new one and same noise. I fear it may be a tranny bearing or perhaps a water pump. I forget what the WP sounds like when its going.
