alternator wires

i just want to check if im goin to be messing with the right wires on my alt....i have a 97 4runner and theres that kinda big...4ga i guess wire coming off the top part of the alt and then theres the clip in thing a little behind it...those are the only two wires i see, so im guessing the clip is for regulation n stuff and the bigger wire is for the power. im going to be putting some 1/0ga wire from my alt to the battery and just watned to make sure im messing with the right wires..so can someone clarify this? thanks guys..oh and i did my electric fan mod the other night and i love it! a little more power but the big jump is in throttle response...highly recommended. thanks to all the yotatechers, i have another completed mod.

yes you are. increasing this wire will give more output from your alternator, its part of the "big 3" upgrade.

i put my 1/0 wires in and i dont get as big of voltage drops now so im happy with the mod, but i had to keep the stock wires from the alt on, cause its connected to the starter somewhere cause i just kept getting "click, click click" when i tried to start without the wire on. so i just have the stock wire, along with the 1/0 over it. sadly, the dccontrol unit didnt last long, as it somehow fried and doesnt work now...and delta is being a pita and giving me the runaround on warranty stuff...hpefully when i get a new unit, itll be more hardy
