Aisin hubs going on in a couple of days
I got done painting and greasing the hubs I bought from Jason today. I'll see if I can take a pic soon. I went with a monochromatic look - I painted the dial, bolts, and the metal surrounding the dial black enamel. I scraped off the dirt and rust and used Meguiars aluminum/mag wheel polish on the body. It neutralized all the remaining oxidation and polished up the hub bodies very nicely.
Quick question - the 54mm socket isn't necesary to swap out the ADD and put on the hubs right? My understanding is that its only necesary if you are disassembling the CV joints. I'll pick up my gaskets tomorrow and let you know how it all goes.

Thats great news then. As soon as I get the gaskets I'll slap them on. I have to take the kids to a school field trip to go ice skating tomorrow. If I break something I'll make sure I still get the hubs done!

Glad Jason's hubs are working out for you. I asked him to save a couple back until next payday. I'm going to see if they add a couple of mpg's.
Just averaged 20.5 on Sam's premium for the running around I did this weekend.

Is that all highway mileage or mixed? If that is mixed that is some awesome mileage. I'm averaging right around 17 with mostly city and some highway driving. I'm hoping the manual hubs will help a little. I get about 22 MPG on the highway so if I get 1 or 2 more that would be awesome.

That's mixed...
Trip to and from Cruces
Running around the westside with some full-throttle acceleration.
Taking my dogs & Godson out into the desert a couple of times with a little bit of 4wd...just to keep the front lubed.
I think a couple of things are working here....
New glasspack
Had dealer clean the injectors
Normal shiftpoints are around 2000-2500
Premium gas.
Trip to and from Cruces
Running around the westside with some full-throttle acceleration.
Taking my dogs & Godson out into the desert a couple of times with a little bit of 4wd...just to keep the front lubed.

Well I picked up the gaskets so I'll be doing the install tonight or tomorrow morning. Also picked up the bushing seat that the shifter sits in since my shifter has been getting sloppy.

And now they are on. I'll snap a picture tomorrow and post it. Stunk up the living room with the Dremel cutting the original plastic center caps but it looks pretty good and more importantly they work great.

lets see some pics..i am doing this mod in a couple of days..once my hubs get here. all i need are the gaskets from toyota and a place to paint them..since i live in an apt.

Corey I just read your message. I will get on that pic post haste. This morning I put in a new 5-speed shifter bushing and wow what an improvement in the shifts! Mine wasn't as nearly deteriorated as the one in the how-to article but man it makes a big difference. I also removed my blower motor resistor and checked the wiring/switch since I get the same amount of air on med-hi as I do on lo. I'll get on that pic for you as soon as I can since I'm going to head out to run a couple of errands and pick up that resistor.

Getting my Aisin Hubs tomorrow! Gets very frustrating bidding on ebay when someone beats you at the last minute so i called a local breakers in Ireland and they have a set for me for 145 euro including delivery, which equates to about $130. Do you think this was a good deal. Gonna strip them down a give them a good cleaning before i install them! Expecting 1" body lift from Roger Brown soon. I've really been bitten by the bug and this site isnt helping!

Not sure if $130 is a good deal or not in Ireland. In the US, they're going for anywhere from $16 up to about $75. If you're tired of getting outbid at the last second, try this . I've only used it one time, but I was able to win the auction. The basic membership is free and allows you to place a bid within the last 10 seconds. If you have the priority service, it'll bid within the last 3 seconds.

Well here's my pic. The sun was a little low so a lot of detail didn't come out in my picture but you get the effect I was going for. All I need is the little sticker in the center of the hub and it would look like the stock plastic covers. BTW - I cut the plastic center caps with my dremel. It wasn't perfect but the overall look is good and its a nice tight fit.

I want to change my wheels soon to something like a 16x7 and since it is doubtful that I'll get the factory center caps to work without cutting them I didn't want to draw any more attention to them. I do have bright red and may add it later.
