Ok, so I got married about 7 months ago and my wife has an 02 SR5 4wd 4runner. I want to put in a new air filter and do the deckplate and ISR mods. I originally was going to go with K&N, but have read that they are about the worst. Then I found True Flow which is going or is out of business. Many sites have already discontinued the filters and the recharge kits. Amsoil no longer carries the TS-115 and now they only have the WIXX filter for the 4runner. What filter should I get. AFE pro dry s or what? Just keep the stock one w/ the mods? Any help is appreciated. The 4runner is bone stock for now.

My advice is stay with a Toyota OEM filter.

I have been down this route before. K&N filter, Trueflow filter, Airaid MIT, "O" mod...Now they have all been removed and sitting in a box. The only power increase I got was due to a lighter wallet. Truck runs better with a stock intake. Many have their opinions, but at the end of the day if you want any power, get a supercharger. End of story.

I was in the same situation awhile ago, I could not decide which company to go with. So I built my own. The picture is not the greatest but it's a pretty simple setup.

If you want torque, you will need to keep the stock air box.

I did the ISR mod and added a Trueflow filter and was impressed. Much better engine response. Not really more power but I think I got slightly better gas mileage.

I then did a modified deckplate with a much smaller hole and did a cold air routing setup and this improved power. I think a big problem with the normal deckplate mod is that it just takes in more hot air, which isn't hugely helpful on NA engines.
