I seen here awhile ago some air intake mod's, pretty impressive, MY Question is: Did they make a difference and could you show me some pics w/mods? There must be something cheaper than That $200 + K & N! I also seen a truck here with filters for the oil breathers and EGR, great idea! On the 3.0 the oil residue gets sucked up ino the intake causing the -body to get all gummy....!

For the 3.4L, you can do a deckplate mod and Intake Silencer mod and thats basically a FIPK right there.

hi i have a 94 4runner withthe fipk intake, but it's not cold air. Can you help me? do i need a box? also i need to keep it clean because i 4x4 it gets really muddy. can help me?

ive heard that the K&N FIPK for 3rd gen actually makes the engine lose a few horse. just stick with deckplate mod, amsoil filter, and intake silencer removal mod. there is definitely a difference you can feel and instantly hear especially at wide open throttle

If you don't do much off roading then just remove (ie cut out) the bottom of your airbox.
If you do cross water or get in the mud you will need to be more creative (the FIPK is a BAD idea in mud or water)

Not a 3.0.

This is just a Cheap K&N filter knock off I bought off ebay,. Total cost was under $25.00




I used a small Valve breather filter for the pre-heater line thingy
And yes thats a coat hanger. Haven't figured out anything else yet. and it works good.

I had to purchase about 36 feet of electrical wire, battey cable, cable cover, air box adapter, and filter.





I'm planning on replacing the stock rubber pipe with a more free flowing pipe.

I didnt notice a difference when I put my intake on. I made it from a Turbo tube from a new Ford Diesel. But now with the intake, drilled holes in the airbox, 2 1/2 inch catback, and now the Taurus electric cooling fan--I finally do notice a pretty big difference--Here is my intake--

did you order the complete unit as shown in your pix? i know the fittings have to be acquired separately, how about the connectors on the ends of the bent pipe? are they part of the assembly or separate? there is a ford dealer not far from me so if you can supply part #'s i can go over and order what i need. thanks for any info you can supply.

That is just a small portion of the actual tube. The blue rubber ends are very expensive from the dealer. You may be able to find a cheaper alternative. If you want I will sell you the steel portion with the brass fittings ready to go, then you will just need to figure out the rubber connectors.

I just removed the resonators and capped it off with a pipe cap and some glue.

From the size of that filter, I'd say Jim is an optimist!

that filter is about the size of 3 stock filters, most people would not be able to fit a filter that big, but i have a 3" bodylift, and there is still a little bit of room left under there.....

i replaced the stock carb stud, its an m6-1.0 threaded rod, and i put it in a drill and screwed it down, then ran a nut down the stud to lock it in place.....

If anyone can think of a good alternative to those blue rubber connectors (that's cheap), let us all know! The only think keeping me from making a fiberglass version is that it needs to be semi-flexible like what those ends provide...

it cant all be made of fiberglass, there needs t obe some give as the engine slightly moves on its mounts but the intake sits in a set spot on the body

you can use silicone connectors
