aftermarket hoods for gen 2

some dumbass thought that it would be a great idea to jump onto the hood of my 95 4runner while i was at work the other day. now i am left with a crushed in hood. since i have to buy a new hood, i am wondering if there are any aftermarket hoods (hood scoops, etc...) available for a gen 2? haven't searched too hard, but my searches i have made have come up empty. any assistance would be great.

Hey,
Try Jerry's Bumper Sales at 910-483-3227. From what I hear, they have about the cheapest prices on the east coast. They sell a lot of sheet metal too, not just bumpers. You will know you have them with some gal with a real southern accent pics up the phone (well unless the guy there pics it up).

Also, you can try Keystone crash parts:

I don't know if they have anything with scoops and the like. One hot rod shop I've been to suggested cutting out the scoop from a 3rd gen hood and welding it into a 2nd gen's hood.

The dealership I used to work for used both of these companys for replacement sheet metal. Most of the time the parts fit good, but evey now and then we got one that was a poor fit. Fit and quality wise, you would be better off just going to a salvage yard or Toyota dealership.

Anyhow, hope that helps.
Daniel

i would make who ever did it pay, but i have no clue who did it. all i know is that they were wearing converse by the shoe patterns left on the hood. but if i did i would do more than just make them pay for it.

Local shopping my be better.

I am looking too. But the problem is that if you find one, you never know of the quality, fitment, warrenty/garentee. Also, the shipping on such an item is usually pretty expensive (about $150.oo). So finding one locally would be best, IMO. You can also pull one from a J-yard and see in person it's condition before you buy.
But for me, I'm looking at the possibility of a carbon fiber or fiberglass one to help lighten the car. Also. we can get some nasty hail here and the original one took quite a beating, so I wonder how resiliant the fiber hoods are?
